![Vega Protein and Greens Review: Healthy or NOT [Aug. 2022]](https://www.wellnessgeeky.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Vega-Protein-and-Greens.png)
Vega specializes in producing plant-based nutritional supplements and powders.
Their focus is on building a better everything: better life, better habits, better nutrition, a better path to weight loss, and ultimately a better you.
Many companies who are trying to market to a healthier crowd (no addictive, sugar, gluten-free, etc...) promise to deliver great results with their products.
Many companies have good intentions but often fall short on promises, such as this product here (DO NOT buy alert), which I tried but it has weird taste and did absolutely nothing for me.
Vega is a wellness and nutrition company that produces everything you might want to add to your diet and lifestyle from plant-based protein powders to bars and shakes, and even a community of like-minded folks who enjoy eating healthfully and sharing nutrition tips, products, and even a recipe list.
More so than watching carbohydrates, sugar, and fat, more scrutiny and attention have been placed in the last twenty years or so on watching the amount of protein you consume.
If you exercise regularly or just want to add more healthy protein and greens to your regimen and are a vegetarian or vegan, it might be right up your alley.
Below I will look at a few of the PROS, and CONS of a few leading protein supplements & compare a few products.
Vega Protein & Greens Review
Food Ingredients and Benefits
Vega Protein and Greens is a plant-based protein powder (according to the product description), made up of a blend of pea, sacha inchi protein, hemp protein, and brown rice protein.
Enjoy effortless nutrition with deliciously smooth protein, and a side of veggies and greens to help sweeten your day.
Unlike many competitive protein products on the market, Vega Protein Greens plant protein contains the addition of non-GMO vegetables, such as organic kale powder and organic alfalfa grass powder, as well as broccoli powder and spinach powder.
It consists of 20 grams of protein per serving and between 110 and 120 calories and zero to one gram of sugar (depending on the flavor you like).
It comes in five flavors: berry, tropical, natural flavor, chocolate, and vanilla protein blend, and is sweetened with Stevia leaf extract.
If you're not a fan of Stevia, they do produce Vega One (vegaone), which is a neutral-flavored, unsweetened alternative, as well as a few more interesting flavors, like coconut almond and vanilla chai.
This is (click here) my favorite flavor and has the absolute best taste if you decided to go this route.
I'll get into more of Vega One plant protein later.
It is easy to find, available at your favorite drug or grocery store, such as Walmart. You can always order it online from Amazon, of course. And if you like buying in large quantities and saving some money, it's usually on hand at Costco.
Pros
Vegan
Non-GMO greens
No fillers
Cons
Consistency. Vega shake is grainier than other protein shakes. This is due to the plant products, which produce a thicker consistency.
Taste. The flavors and sweetness levels are not for everyone. Many people don’t like the taste of Stevia, and because it’s so low in sugar, it’s not as sweet as other similar products. Many people (myself included) consider it to be a pretty good-tasting vegan protein shake.
It’s more expensive than other vegan protein powders and nutritional protein bars.
Labeling. It is difficult to discern when it comes to the exact amount of greens you get. This should be more clear.
Vega is a good, trusted Brand, but I did not experience a BIG difference in performance, so if you are active or just want to have better results, faster recovery time, and want to buy only ORGANIC and VEGAN, I would go with this product from Transparent Labs Here (Use WellGeek10 Code For 10% off for a limited time)
Protein from Transparent Labs is 100% vegan and free of artificial sweeteners and flavoring, it is also USDA Organic Certified.
Vega Protein vs Shakeology
Shakeology is well known, and if you've heard of a brand, it's probably that one. It has been around for a while now and has accumulated a loyal following.
Reviewers who favor Shakeology usually do so because of their flavor options--they have cafe latte, Greenberry, and strawberry in addition to the usual suspects of chocolate and vanilla--and the fact that they are less grainy and sweeter due to their sugar content.
Vegans tend to prefer Vega One All-in-One, though Shakeology has recently added a few vegan options to their line.
Shakeology contains whey protein, which is a non-starter for strict vegetarians. Many people prefer Shakeology due to its long ingredients list. It contains phytonutrients and antioxidants, which are helpful in detoxing the body.
It's also packed with minerals, herbs, fiber, probiotics, and vitamins in addition to the protein, which combines in a formula that is designed to make you feel fuller, longer.
This helps if you're trying to lose weight, as it keeps the cravings in between meals at bay.
Vega Protein vs Vega One Powder Review
Vega One protein is a complete protein nutritional shake. It also contains 20 grams of protein per serving. Supplemental to the Sachi inchi, hemp, and pea protein that is also found in the Protein and Greens powder, it also contains flaxseed.
It's packed with 12 vitamins and minerals, and the addition of Omega-3 and probiotics as well as veggies, which boost the fiber content.
It's offered in a broader range of flavors, including french vanilla, coconut almond, and mocha.
They offer natural, which is a nice alternative if you like to create your own natural flavor or prefer none at all.
There are plenty of vanilla recipes to choose from if you like using a recipe center online, or you can invent your own creations.
If you like chocolate almonds, for example, add a little cocoa powder, and mix it with almond milk. Coconut milk is a good mixer if you don't like soy or hemp milk, but like to keep it dairy-free (non-dairy beverage)
Add fresh berries and a dash of vanilla for a fresh, bright shake. And if you take advantage of whatever is in season, you can mix it up while boosting the benefits.
