Vitagoods Scalp Massager Review [Aug. 2022]

Vitagoods Scalp Massager Review [Aug. 2022]

If you're like me and believe the best part of a massage or a quality haircut is the head massage, then you'll be thrilled to learn about the Vitagoods Scalp Massager. I honestly didn't know these little beauties even existed, but holy cow am I glad I do now.

Sure, we all know the benefits of a good head and scalp massage, right? For one, it feels unbelievably great (why does it feel so dang good?! I don't know!).

It also leaves you tingling from head to toe, and it's deeply relaxing. One might call a good head massage transcendent.

But there are other health and therapeutic benefits as well. Besides being incredibly relaxing, reducing stress, and making you feel absolutely blissful, stimulating the scalp increases blood circulation, which in turn can help your hair grow.
It also disperses your hair's natural oils, which makes your hair shinier. It can help control dandruff, too.
Sold yet? I was too. Here are some of the highlights of the Vitagoods massager and a few comparisons.

What is it?

So, when you think scalp massager, you might imagine a large, heavy, electric head massager that is difficult to maneuver and you have to plug into the wall.

And while yes, there are many awesome head and scalp massagers like that out there (that happen to work wonders by the way), that's not what this is. One of the many beauties of the Vitagoods scalp massager is that it's small and light.

This compact shampoo brush fits in the palm of your hand, and you use it in the shower. It's about the size of a small bar of soap. It's electric, so you get the power behind a great vibration massage, but it only uses one AA battery.

How does it work?

Once in the shower, you distribute your shampoo to the roots and ends of your hair as you normally would. You then hold the hair massage brush in the palm of your hand and turn it on.
Gently move it around your entire head, massaging your scalp in small motions.
You can use as much or as little pressure as feels good to you. The flexible tips are made of silicone rubber, so they're soft enough to bend but firm enough to deliver a nice pressure. The light vibrating action adds to the stimulation, leaving you feeling totally relaxed.
how does brush work

If you have areas on your scalp that are prone to dandruff, you can apply more pressure and spend longer amounts of time on those. And if you have long hair, be careful not to pull the massager down the ends of your hair. Concentrate the brushing on the scalp only.

The scalp brush helps lather up and evenly distribute your shampoo while you're massaging your head, so you're killing two birds with one stone in your daily shower routine. And that's pretty much it.
Once you're done, turn it off, rinse it out, and leave it to dry. The brush isn't designed to be submerged in water, so it's not recommended to be used in the bath. Shower only.

Pros

  • It’s lightweight, and easy to hold and maneuver.
  • If you don’t like doing the work of lathering up your shampoo, you’re in luck because the massaging brush does it for you.
  • Just apply shampoo and massage away.
  • The bristles are soft enough so they feel good and don’t poke or hurt your scalp.
  • It’s reasonably priced and does as well as more expensive competitors.

Cons

  • It’s not 100% waterproof, so while it works great in the shower, don’t fully submerge it in water or use it in the bathtub where it could possibly fall into the water.
  • You need a screwdriver to install or change the battery, so test it before you get into the shower, unless you happen to keep a screwdriver within reach. If you use darker-colored shampoos the bristles could discolor.

Similar Brands

TopNotch Scalp Massager

The TopNotch Scalp Massager for Hair Growth is a good alternative if you don't want to fuss with a battery. The tradeoff of course is that you can massage using the bristles of the brush and the pressure of your hand, but you miss out on the vibrational massage.
Massaging for hair growth
This is a good scalp massager for stimulating the hair follicles and increasing the blood flow to your scalp, which helps your hair grow. So, you still get a nice relaxing head massage in the shower, and it lathers up and distributes your shampoo as you massage, but you won't get the full benefit of vibration.

Rolencos Hair Scalp Brush

The Rolencos Hair Scalp Brush is similar to the TopNotch in that it does not need a battery, so it's a manual massager only. The benefits are not needing to purchase, swap out, install or change the battery.
The downside is you don't get a vibrating massage, which definitely adds to the therapeutic benefits and how well you will feel afterward.
This is good for stimulating hair follicles to increase the natural oil distribution in your scalp, which definitely boosts the shine value in your hair. It's also really good for exfoliating and treating dandruff.

Zyllion ZMA12 Shampoo Scalp Massage Brush

zyllion zma 12

This is a really nice scalp massaging brush if you want a little versatility. It's a manual brush, so no batteries are required, which also means no vibrational massage. However, the rubber bristles are varied.
There are two different kinds--little points and small, flat bristles. In combination, these do a really good job of massaging your scalp in a unique and relaxing way.
It feels great and leaves you rejuvenated and feeling that tingly sensation you get from a really good head massage.
The other thing I absolutely love about this brush is that it's not just a scalp massager, and you don't have to use it only in the shower.
You can use it anywhere on your body from the thighs, and buttocks, to the tummy. Used with some cellulite cream or oil, it makes for an excellent cellulite massager brush.
For the budget-friendly price, you get a really high-quality, multipurpose massager with the Zyllion, especially considering you don't have to use a battery.

Conclusion

There are a lot of great scalp massager brushes out there (who knew?!), and once you discover how easy it is to massage your way to a happier start to the day, I suspect that like me, you'll never go back.
The Vitagoods Scalp Massager definitely comes in at the head of the pack, with the vibrational massage and the easy-to-use size and handle. Give it a try, and you might never go back to shampooing the old-fashioned way, with your hands. And guess what? It's even great for your pets!
